BRIEF BIO
After Chen Chen
Part-time bag lady who hibernates in the summer,
somehow still believing that beauty is a human necessity,
believing in bowls and porches: all meals in bowls, all meals on porches.
A bowl full of persimmons on a porch surrounded by peonies,
studying melodrama to rage against tedium, studying ravens to rage against the floor.
I eat pomegranates with abandon while raging against the machine.
Mostly curious agnostic jew who gets interpersonal with the sky,
lighthouse keeper, reluctant optimist, eavesdropping on the table next to me, reporting back.
Tell me everything in the world.
In my wildest dreams, I dropped out of law school to be a drummer.
In my beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy, I only listen to Aretha Franklin and only ride my bike.
In my more perfect reality, I drive in the snow and listen for the hummingbirds.
These are my two seasons.
It’s not so bad.
The sunflowers in my garden are twice my size but I am still tall.
Building full tables,
practicing the rare art called aging,
I am the wind.
